Lessons From The 7 Best Dressed Guys At The Oscars
The men of Hollywood suited up and hit the red carpet on Sunday night for the 2017 Academy Awards.
Although the drama of the bungled Best Picture announcement stole the limelight, these guys rocked the heck out of some designer suits and we reckon they deserve some credit for giving us all a tutorial in effortless style.
In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, here’s what went down: presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were all set to announce the biggest award of the night: Best Picture. But they were given the wrong envelope, and announced La La Land as the winner. Midway through the acceptance speeches, it was revealed that the real winner was Moonlight. The cast and crew of La La Land had to stop celebrating, get off stage and hand over that golden statue to the Moonlight team. Yup, it was awkward.
But the show must go on! Our award for the best-dressed in Hollywood go to these 7 stylish gents:
1. Mahershala Ali
This guy just became the first Muslim actor to ever win an Oscar. If that isn’t winning enough, the Moonlight actor turned heads on the red carpet with this head-to-toe black outfit. The different textures and added accessories completed his winning look.
2. Dev Patel
Patel starred in Lion, which was nominated for 6 Oscars but didn’t win any. He still looked like a boss though, going for old-school Hollywood charm in this timeless classic by Burberry. This is a custom-made white silk tux jacket, by the way, and fitted pants to complement his slim build.
3. Andrew Garfield
He may not have won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Hacksaw Ridge, but his tailored look by Tom Ford definitely won the red carpet. This is how you wear a tux guys.
4. Riz Ahmed
Finally! Some colour amongst the traditional black-and-white suit uniform! Riz brought some serious coolness to the red carpet with this refreshing hue, looking dapper in Ermenegildo Zegna Couture.
5. John Legend
The singer kept it simple and stylish in this Gucci Tux. Legend performed a medley of songs from La La Land, which went on to win Best Original Score.
6. Ryan Gosling
Can this guy do anything wrong on the red carpet? Ryan always looks good, and this year’s Academy Awards were no different as he worked this Gucci Tux with added frills. He missed out on the Oscar for Best Actor, and his La La Land crew had the Best Picture award plucked right out of their hands on stage – but hey, at least he looked great during the most epic fail in the history of the Oscars!
7. Jeff Bridges
Bridges nailed the distinguished gentleman look in this three piece tux. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Hell Or High Water, and hit the red carpet with his wife Susan.
