Our Favourite Looks And Fashion Tips Straight From The Menswear 2019 Runway
The 12th annual Menswear Collections in association with Montblanc Explorer showcased the new collections for spring/summer 2019 from some of the best fashion brands and designers in SA. We got to see where the designers drew inspiration from, and what fashion’s finest will be wearing this season. This year, the various brands got to show their latest offerings to the massive crowd at the Grand Beach Cafe & Beach Restaurant. Here are some of our favourite looks from the runway and the tips that will help you get a better looking wardrobe for the upcoming seasons.
Cover Guys by Sorbet Man
Yes, it takes a great workout plan to be on our front page, but having a good skincare regimen is also essential to look the part. Don’t neglect your skin, gents! Sorbet Man was our official grooming partner and showed off our Cover Guys (like Fez Mkize) in white jeans for summer. Because who needs a shirt if you have abs like Fez, right?
Athleisure has been evolving in the fashion scene for a few seasons now, and adidas wasn’t playing around when it comes to their range of athletic wear that’s fitted for the streets. We saw varsity jackets with tailored trackpants, shorts with sweater shirts and other combinations that are great for when you want to look chilled, but also show off a bit (OK, maybe a lot).
The warmer seasons are upon us and everyone needs a good pair of swim shorts. Enter Q Plus. Their swimwear collection will make sure that you look cool by the pool and hot at the beach. Non-elastic waistbands are always more flattering, unless you’re as fit as this guy. Thumbs up for trunks that hit mid-thigh – try throwing on a light hoodie and a pair of fresh sneakers before heading out.
Superdry is here to ensure that you stand out in style. Statement prints are everywhere – from hoodies, to shorts, pants and t-shirts. A must-have in your summer rotation. Our advice, wear one print at a time and keep the rest of your look neutral, that way the outfit will pop more without being overly distracting.
You can look good in summer even when the sun is down. This look from Soviet is perfect for a summer evening – the grey faded jeans and t-shirt combo gives off monotone vibe fitted for any stylish guy. And it’s not summer unless you’re wearing shades, obviously.
Duca Del Cosma X Funduzi
Italian footwear brand Duca Del Cosma collaborated with South African designer, Craig Jacobs at Funduzi. The apparel combined with the footwear made a bright and bold statement. So if you’re keen to add some colour or print into your summer look, they’ll have your back.
We love neutral outfits, but we recommend adding texture, or print for a more interesting look. Polo’s pastel shades with the striped golfer is a great combination for summer. The look can be completed with either sneakers or boat shoes.
Award-winning South African designer’s Paledi’s Moroccan-inspired collection wowed the crowd with a selection of tailored jackers, headbands and loose pants. Palse’s range showcased the important of having a good colour scheme when it comes to picking outfits, and we recommend you do the same.
What’s more handsome than a bespoke suit? For the first time ever we displayed the craftsmanship of bespoke tailoring in our show. The models looked dapper as they strolled across the runway in fitted suits that were classic but still had a refreshing twist to them.
Showcasing some of the best accessories for summer, Montblanc aims to help you find your perfect travel companion. DJ Karrouhat and the rest of the models wheeled out some of the brand’s sophisticated luggage bags. The My4810 trolley combines style, practicality and personalization for the modern, connected traveller.
