For some, winter pretty much only equal boots only, but the loafer – traditionally reserved for your summer wardrobe – can be used to bring a touch of casual flair to many winter outfits. Be it work, Saturday lunch with friends or date night, a pair of well-polished leather loafers can look slick and stylish when worn properly and with the right outfit.  Just follow these few tips.

1/ Cover Up Those Ankles

First things first, when pairing your slip-on with your winter gear, it’s important to not have your ankles exposed to the elements during colder climes. Remember to put on a pair of good quality woolen socks before you step into them. Because loafers are so low-cut you can really show off your style with a pair of simple socks. Go for a wintery pattern or a pop of colour to make a fun filled statement that brightens up grey days.

2/ Choose Your Colour Carefully

When picking out your loafer, colour-wise you’ll want something warm toned or dark. Suede should be avoided at all costs. Stiff leather is your best friend here.

3/ Longer Pants Are A Win

When it comes to what you should wear with your loafers, don’t be afraid to opt for pants longer in length than you’ll usually wear during summer time. As long as they are tapered at the base and you have a bit of a break between the hem and your shoe, you’re all good.

About The Weejun Loafer

The loafer has come a long way since GH Bass first launched the Weejun in 1936, and is now one of the most versatile shoes a man can wear. Traditionally a casual shoe, the loafer can easily be worn on formal occasions, depending on the construction.

We’re a sucker for the more classic design of GH Bass’ penny loafer in a whiskey polished leather pictured here.

The shoes are crafted from polished wine leather for a sophisticated finish, and are hand sewn to replicate techniques used on the first Weejuns in 1936.

The beauty of these lie in their soft flexible rubber sole, making it a versatile style to wear all year round, while the spring-action technology and inbuilt cushioning provides the comfort of a trainer. Guaranteed for a lighter, more cushioned step with every wear, this style is set to be an indispensable addition to  your wardrobe.
