This One Easy Dating Profile Tweak Could Get You Way More Matches
Everyone loves guacamole, the delicious Mexican staple you can put on everything from toast to tortilla chips. But what you might not know about the wonder food is that it can also help you get dates. Yes, this is totally legit, and we’re just as excited about it as you are.
The online dating service Zoosk recently combed through 3.7 million dating profiles and found that talking about food in your bio increased the chances of getting a message. More specifically, mentioning guac increased the chances by 144 percent.
But don’t panic if you aren’t guac-obsessed, because mentioning your love of potatoes or chocolate will also get you your fair share of matches, with a 101 percent and 100 percent increase in messages respectively.
Coming in fourth is salad, which increases your chance of inbound messages by 97 percent, according to Zoosk. Who came up with the saying, “No good story ever started with someone eating a salad”? They might want to rethink it.
But who would’ve thought salad would beat out fried chicken? Certainly not us.
According to Zoosk’s results, “despite the fact that it is both delicious and wonderful, mentioning fried chicken in a dating profile results in 15 percent fewer messages.” Hey, facts are facts.
Zoosk even offers some advice on how to respond to all the messages you’ll receive once you add the beloved guacamole to your bio.
“Though mentioning food in your profile can lead to more incoming messages, it probably shouldn’t be the first thing you talk about with someone. For the most part, mentioning food in an initial message doesn’t result in many more replies,” according to the study. “But there are some exceptions, the most surprising of which is ‘eggplant,’ which gets 10 percent more responses than the average.”
We recommend you try out Dating Buzz because it’s free to sign up and has loads of South African singles who want to find love, just like you! What we like most is that you can see what you have in common with others at a glance and know who you will be compatible with. So that means the site is really focused on creating meaningful, lasting relationships and it isn’t superficial like dating sites and apps that gets users to match based on appearance.
Dating Buzz also makes finding a match easier with several search options so you can look for what you want and add those to Your Favourites. And remember the lesson here is simple: If you’re about to make an online dating profile, or think your bio needs an update, mentioning that in addition to working out, you also eat guac by the spoonful in your spare time might not be a bad idea.
