Although some stress is good for you, researchers focused on cases where participants experienced excessive stress. The Researchers interviewed 10 000 men and women between the ages of 36 and 52 about their everyday relationships. The researchers focused on identifying which people in the participant’s lives were making excessive demands, prompting worry, or acting as a source of conflict. Researchers also tried to attain how often conflict arose.

After taking into account a variety of other influential factors, researchers found that that frequent worries or demands generated by partners and/or children were linked to a 50%-100% increased risk of death from all causes.

Researchers recommended that better conflict management skills could help to mitigate the risks.
