A Better Bond
Oxytocin, the hormone released during cuddling, may keep you faithful. In a German study, men received a nasal spritz of either oxytocin or a placebo and then rated images of their partner and other attractive women. The result? On oxytocin, they rated their mate (and not the other women) as more attractive than they did on the placebo. Also, their brains’ reward regions were more active when they viewed photos of their partner, possibly from a dopamine release triggered by the oxytocin.
Maybe you Want A Way Out Of Cuddling? That depends on how you and your partner define cuddling.
