30 Creative Date Ideas While You’re In Quarantine

Netflix and chill will get old fast.

Thanks to the SA lockdown, odds are you’re not feeling like a creative genius at the moment when it comes to romance. That can happen when you’re trapped with your partner in a confined space, or struggling with being isolated in two different locations. Netflix and chill probably seems like the only viable date idea, but let’s be real, that’s going to get boring pretty quickly.

It’s important to find a joy in these trying times, so maybe skip your 47th House Hunters marathon and try something a little more out-of-the-box. Visiting a restaurant, bar, or other public place is out of the question right now, but there are plenty of other date ideas you can do during lockdown — including over video chat, if you and your partner aren’t in the same apartment, eating from the same cans of beans every day. The team at Men’s Health came up with 36 date ideas you can do while in quarantine—both with and without your partner physically present.

If you’re quarantined together:

Learn a dance (may we suggest the viral dance to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage”?)

Watch porn together. Seriously.

Pick a novel and read it out loud to each other with snuggling and drinking wine, alternating who reads with each chapter. (That way, you both have time to take sips.)

Do a home workout together.

Take a shower together (but first: our tips for non-awkward shower sex.)

Give each other erotic massages.

Have a stay-at-home picnic.

Play a game of strip scrabble. Whenever you get a six or seven letter word, your partner has to take an article of clothing off.

Bake biscuits (or any delicious dessert).

If you have a backyard, play catch…

… Lie down outside and stargaze together…

… Or spend the night outside, camping.

Surprise your partner with breakfast in bed.

Become your own bartender, and explore new drink recipes.

Have a karaoke night. (You can download an app for it here.

Play a game of Never Have I Ever. You’re bound to learn something new about your partner.

FaceTime your in-laws with your partner. They’ll be happy to know that you’re taking good care of their daughter or son.

Sketch each other nude. After all, isn’t your partner your muse?

Make a time capsule and put your favourite couple’s photos, love letters, and other special memorabilia.

If you’re quarantined apart:

Make (and eat!) one of these recipes together via FaceTime.

Have an extended sexting sesh.

Or FaceTime sex. It’s all the rage these days.

Start planning a dream holiday for when dream holidays are possible again.

If you’re curious about astrology, look up each other’s birth charts and find out what the stars say about your personalities.

Play an online card game or board game.

Try using long distance sex toys where you can can control your partner’s vibrator or prostate massager from thousands of miles away.

Use Netflix Party. It’s a chrome extension that synchronizes video playback on Netflix and adds a group chat.

Ask each other the infamous 36 questions that lead to love over FaceTime.

Take an online test to learn what your love language is. Then compare with your partner.

Write love letters and then read them to each other.
