Cover Guy Fez Mkhize Wins Mr. World SA
MH Cover Guy and South African doctor, Fezile Mkhize, wowed the judges at the Mr. World SA contest on Saturday. “Thank you to everyone for all the support and kind sentiments,” the 28-year-old said on Instagram. The newly crowned Mr. World SA will gear up for the international Mr. World contest, and we’re behind him all the way.
Fez was amongst 12 other Mr. World hopefuls announced on 20 June by the Mr. World SA organisation, in collaboration with the Miss World Foundation. He will follow in the footsteps of Armund du Plessis, who took part in the pageant in 2016, and has supported Fez throughout the process.
Fez has the country watching, with loads of support from his friends, family and fans across social media. In the previous years, the much loved and anticipated international pageant had contestants from approximately 70 countries. And it has now been confirmed that over 100 countries have entered. In 2016, South Africa made it to the Top 10 of the competition and Armand du Plessis, who’s also the national director of Mr. World SA, says he is hopeful that South Africa will do even better this time around.
We’ve learnt a lot from Fez over the years. The doctor went from featuring on our shout out pages to the front cover, with fitness being a top priority in his life.

The Top Billing presenter says that inspiring youngsters has always been his vision and hopes that the Mr. World platform can help him to inspire the globe’s youth to be better.“There are a lot of dreamers like myself out there who might not have had everything in their childhood, but look where I am today. The limitations of thinking you were not born into something great and amazing, that others are born into, is distorted, and I would adamantly motivate people to go try out whatever they think will work for them with zeal and an eagerness to achieve it,” he says.
The international pageant has a similar judging criteria as the local Mr.World SA and has various challenges for the contestants to take part in. According to contest organisers, in a series of Mr World challenge events, “contestants will test their physical and mental endurance.”
The Mr. World site states the following tests Mr. World contestants will undergo:
- Extreme is a test of strength, endurance and rugged determination
- Sport is a test of skill, discipline and athleticism
- Talent & Creativity is about a contestants finesse, technique and their dedication
- Fashion looks at the men getting it right in the style stakes
- Multimedia looks at their charisma and how contestants present themselves and how they engage and interact with an online audience
And if winning is not on the cards for contestants, there’s plenty of great experience that comes with the contest. According to Julia Morley, Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, “Mr. World is a unique competition that also has an atmosphere of sportsmanship, unity and friendship, which is what makes the competition such a wonderful experience for all those involved.”
