STD symptoms are not limited to genitalia—they can show up throughout the whole body.

Since the usual warning signals—genital discharge, sores, irritation, or pain—aren’t the only ones to worry about, here are some other signs you shouldn’t ignore. The bottom line: definitely get up-to-date on your screenings.

1. Chlamydia

  • Painful urination
  • Lower abdominal pain
  • Severe sore throat
  • Swollen tonsils or lymph nodes
  • Ulcerations in your mouth and tongue and on the inside of the cheek or lip

2. Gonorrhoea
