Bloem:Conquer the hill up Albrecht Street on the 10km route of the Berg-en-Daller race on Friday evening. There’s a 5K as well, but we reckon you’re up for a challenge. The 10K is R40 and R20 gets you a temporary license; registration starts at 4pm at the Berg-en-Dal church – the gun sounds at 6pm.
Kimberley:The Vodacom Half Marathon starts from Bishops Club in Kimberley at 6am on Saturday morning. Sign up between 6-8pm on Friday, or on race day. There’s also a 10km and a 5km if you’re not up for the half.
Cape Town: Show your support for the brave souls taking part in the Cape Town leg of the Impi Challenge on Saturday and Sunday. The elites kick off their race at 7am and the other events start on the hour until 1pm. There’s a beer tent, live acts, and the rugby will be shown. Everything goes down at Lievland Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.
Jozi:Veteran funnymen Alyn Adams and Kagiso Lediga are at Parker’s Comedy and Jive in Montecasino on Saturday night. Show starts at 8pm, R120 gets you in. Tickets at computicket
PE: Dollar Brand (Abdullah Ibrahim to the uninformed) is at the Opera House, supported by his Ekaya band and the Jazz Orchestra on Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are R150 and scarce. Check computicket
Jozi:Fuzigish are launching their Crazy Friends album at the Bassline in Newtown. Their old school punk/ska sound will be supported by the slightly heavy Facing the Gallows, so you know it’s a party. Doors open at 7pm, R60 gets you in (R120 if you want the CD as well).
