What To Do This Weekend
Burgers & Beer at the Common Room
Even the staunchest hater of Valentine’s Day probably can’t say no to a cold one and a burger. The cover charge of R150 (cash only) gets you a beer, burger and live entertainment.
Run for your life at the Zombie Run – My Bloody Valentine
We’re not quite sure what to make of this, but if you’re into quirky fun then read on… Runner’s World describes it as “A simulated apocalypse, organised for fans of all things zombie and those who just want to have some fun.” Should you choose to accept the adventure, three flags will be attached to you, which other people will then try to rip off.
Sound weird? The endorphin rush created by running around is likely to kill any anti-Valentines Day vibes you may have and together with the setting (Pretoria’s National Zoological Gardens) it may be just what you need to escape normality and have fun.
Up for the adventure? Contact Carol Willis on 082 821 3435. Cost is between R200-R300, which includes a prize-giving ceremony afterwards. Event starts at 19:00 tonight.
Jam to live music at Hard Rock Café
Catch some Indie vibes at Nelson Mandela Square tonight. The line up includes Tamryn Jones, David van Vuuren, Jed James and Justin Serrao.
Watch cricket at Centurion
At the time of writing, South Africa seemed to be struggling a bit against the Australians. That said, we’re hoping for a Proteas fight back.
Tickets cost between R40 and R80. Get them at TicketPros.
Dance away stress at the Ultra Music Festival
International standard dance music event that’s less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town. No more words needed – just watch the trailer in this story!
It’s taking place tonight at the Cape Town Ostrich Farm and costs anywhere betweenR700 – R1100 per person. Book at Computicket.
Watch – Nitro Circus
There’s no better way to wipe away all that February the 14th mushiness than by watching 10-time X Games gold medalist Travis Pastrana and others doing ridiculous stunts on BMX’s, skateboards and Motocross bikes tomorrow at Cape Town Stadium.
Props include a 50-foot high ramp.
Tickets cost between R280 – R935 and are available at Computicket.

Haven’t planned anything for her this Valentines day? No problem – dinner in the dark should have just the right blend of romance and uniqueness to satisfy her.
