10 Questions With Courtnall And Semone Skosan
On the rugby field Courtnall Skosan is a pacey winger for the Springboks and the Golden Lions, but at home he’s part of a team closest to his heart – his wife, a former Miss SA finalist, Semone and son, CJ.
The power couple have developed an impressive level of teamwork, especially when it comes to staying fit and healthy. Whether it’s alternating baby duty at the gym or a workout at home, Courtnall & Semone have have it covered. We asked them how they do it, and here’s what they said.
1. Where did it begin?
“We met through mutual friends on a night out and we never said a word to each other besides ‘hello’ and a handshake. We got each other’s phone numbers from our friend and chatted on BBM at the time. Then we met up in church and had our first actual conversation,” Semone says.
2. Describe each other in two sentences?
“Semone is the most loving and caring individual I know,” says Courtnall. “People say dynamite comes in small packages, and that’s exactly what she is.”
And according to the Miss SA finalist, her husband “is the most dedicated, hard-working man I’ve ever met. He motivates me without knowing it.”
3. How did you know that you would make such a great team in the long run?
“We’re both grounded in faith and everything we’ve ever asked for in our prayers for a partner is exactly what we found in each other. That’s how we knew we were meant to be.” says the Lion’s winger.
4. What’s it like being a couple in the public eye?
“We appreciate the fact that we are in the public eye, but crazy enough, we’re very private people. Although we do enjoy sharing moments online every now and then,” the 27-year-old business mom says.
5. How often should you post online as a couple?
“Keep it as natural as possible. You should post on social media when it feels right,” say the couple, who take their social media stardom as it comes.
6. Balancing careers and parenthood can’t be easy?
“Some days are better than others,” Semone says, with social media, careers and motherhood ensuring there’s plenty on her to-do-list, “but it’s all about prioritising and time management.”
7. How often do you guys exercise together?
“We hit the gym at least twice a week together,” Courtnall tells us. But the key to staying in Skosan-like shape is putting in the hard work alone, too. “We get all our other sessions in our own time,” adds Semone.
8. Your go-to couples workout routine?
“We love leg day!”

9. You’re a king on the rugby field, but what has fatherhood taught you?
“To change nappies!” he jokes. “But the biggest thing I learnt was patience because previously everything worked on my own time but now our world runs according to CJ’s clock.”
10. Secret behind Semone’s pregnancy-bod bounce back?
“My fitness journey started in 2012 when I met Courtnall. It took me a year and a half to lose 20kgs and I’ve maintained my body ever since,” she says.
“When I found out I was pregnant I was even more determined. I maintained a healthy diet and trained throughout my pregnancy. Post pregnancy, it took me six weeks to reach my pre-pregnancy weight. It’s a lifestyle really, diet and exercise is the only way!”
