Look Like Hell on Halloween
If you’re a girl Halloween is easy. Just wear your shortest skirt and a pair of illuminated devil-horns. However, for us guys it’s all about the blood…
Colin Penman, head of make-up for Saw VII, shows us how to make an authentic looking wound.
PREP YOUR FACE
Use rubbing alcohol and cotton balls to remove the oils from your face so the make-up won’t slide off.
BUILD YOUR BASE
Roll a coin-sized piece of scar wax (available at party stores) into a three-centimetre-long cylinder, minimum. Press it onto your skin. It’ll look best on a bony area, like your cheekbone, brow or forehead.
CONTROL THE BORDER
Dip the tip of your finger in vaseline and blend the wax’s edges into your skin. Don’t overspread the wax; leave a small lip for a realistic texture.
MAKE THE CUT
Use a plastic knife to slice the middle of the waxy mound. For an incision-style cut, make one straight pass. For an impact wound, make jagged cuts.
Dab red crème make-up over the wound, blending it into surrounding skin. Mix red and blue make-up and colour the middle of the cut to create depth.
BLOODY IT UP
Squeeze stage blood into the top of the cut so that it drips down your face. Conceal any exposed waxy edges with a dot of blood. Commence moaning.
