Regulate Your Nutrient Intake

admin |

Consuming excessive high-risk nutrients could mean you’re dancing with death, despite your body requiring nutrients to survive.

One of these is salt.

Excessive intake of salt can increase your risk of hypertension, which could also induce cardiovascular disease and stroke. The WHO recommends no more than 5 grams of salt for adults p/day.

To help you make informed decisions about your nutrient intake, Tiger Brands has developed *Guideline Daily Amounts (GDA), which forms part of their Eat Well Live Well campaign, comprising a labelling system that notes the amounts of nutrients in food that you need to monitor.

The most vital high-risk nutrients identified that may put you at risk of developing diet-related disease, when exceeded, are fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt.

Here’s the average GDA for men:

Kilojoules Sugars Fat Saturates Salt
10500 kJ 120g 95g 30g 6g

*Guidelines are for people of standard weight and average activity level. Consult your doctor if you don’t fall in the average parameters of weight and physical activity
