Is health and wellness at the top of your mind during this lockdown period? Join the club. Being at home really gives you the opportunity to reassess your meal and nutrition habits, and make some important switches for the better. Here’s one to consider: why not change to plant-based milk?

Gone are the days when the hardest decision in the dairy aisle was whole milk vs 2 percent. Now, we’ve got a range of non-dairy options to choose from. And, if life feels too stressful to compromise on that creamy coffee, then we’ve found the perfect  milk alternative for you…

Why choose plant-based milk?

Swapping traditional cow’s milk  for plant-based ones has been an important switch for many people. It’s an easy solution to alleviate milk sensitivity issues – which seem to be a growing trend. Plus, many people are taking small steps towards a more plant-based lifestyle to do their bit for the planet.

Alpro believes that putting plants first is a meaningful step to change the way the world eats – for the better.

Alpro has launched an awesome plant-based milk range to get progress going…

The Alpro plant-based milk range offers almond milk and soya milk options. It is 100% plant-based, lactose-free and contains vitamins and calcium. And, it doesn’t compromise on taste. It’s the perfect partner to your morning cereal, smoothie or your that pick-me-up cup of coffee.

The unsweetened almond milk contains the following ingredients: water, almond (2,3%), calcium (tri-calcium phosphate), salt, stabilisers (locust bean gum, gellan gum), emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), vitamins B2, B12, E, D2. And only contains 53kJ per 100ml serving.

The unsweetened soy milk option is made up of these ingredients: water, hulled soya beans (8,7%), acidity regulators (potassium phosphates), calcium (calcium carbonate), salt, flavourings, stabiliser (gellan gum), vitamins B2, B12, D. It contains 138kJ per 100ml serving.

It’s great for use in recipes too! Try it in this gluten-free, vegan, creamy mushroom pasta recipe by Women’s Health food editor Amy Hopkins.

“The classic creamy mushroom sauce gets a plant-based makeover with this dairy-free recipe. It’s a very saucy recipe — if you’d like to set some sauce aside, it works really well with steamed or grilled veggies and keeps well for two days in the fridge,” says Amy, who created this recipe using Alpro Unsweetened Soya Milk.
