These Sports Heroes Are Challenging You To ‘The Living Room Cup’!

South Africa’s nationwide lockdown has brought a new meaning to home workouts with everyone turning their lounges, balconies and garages into home gyms. The internet has been a godsend with supplying a constant stream of  workouts – from Facbook live, to YouTube, to Instragram, to your preferred app store  – have you seen the cool free ones on the Nike Training Club App? So while we might be stuck indoors, there’s no excuse for not working on your gains. In fact, here at MH, we’re working hard at emerging out of lockdown in our best shape yet.

Your social feeds might even have been flooded with various challenges -anything from how many pushups you can do in 30 secconds, to the global t-shirt challenge. To up the ante, Nike has partnered with some of their top global athletes in a very exciting social-media campaign to keep us – and you! – motivated to train, try out new things and stay connected! It’s physical distancing – not social distancing.

It’s called The Living Room Cup and some of your favourite athletes are challenging YOU to work out in your living room and show them how you’re doing. Some of those athletes include the legendary Christiano Ronaldo, Rory McIlroy and Rafael Nadal– who doesn’t want to train with these greats? Reckon you could take them on?

 How Do “The Living Room Cup” Home Workouts Work?

– Starting this weekend, on Sunday 5 April 2020, one Nike athlete will set a fitness challenge each week for the next 10 weeks.

– The fitness challenge will take place on that athlete’s Instagram page.

– To kick-off “The Living Room Cup”, we have Cristiano Ronaldo! See below for his challenge.

– The featured elite athlete will then tag the following week’s featured athlete, so you’ll get to see who your next home workouts will be with. We’ll also be sharing this content and will keep you posted on our IG.

How Do You Join The Living Room Cup?

– Nike and MH challenge you to join each week’s featured athlete by completing Sunday’s challenge and posting about it on your feed / stories. Tag us @MensHealthZA and @Nike #TheLivingRoomCup and the elite athlete of the week.

– Check in with friends and family around the world and encourage them to join you as you take part in the challenges! #StayHome

– On the following Tuesday, the elite athlete will give motivational tips on their IG feed/stories. Plus there will be some fun surprises in store… So keep following the action!
