The Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sport have focused on the growing interest that cherries and cherry products (extracts, both sweet and tart) have had in literature with regard to their applications in both exercise and clinical paradigms.

Cherries have been reported to be high in anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. They also provide similar but the more natural alternative to over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), better known as analgesics.

The study does raise concern when it comes to use of the products which can be seen to inhibit such inflammatory or oxidative actions because of physiological training adaptations been blunted out. However optimal recovery time has been given higher importance and the use of cherries as a supplementation strategy has been seen.

It will provide the enhancement of recovery of muscle function, inhibit exercise-induced inflammation, oxidative stress and primarily inhibit pain.
