South African educated Chris Froome wins 100th edition of the Tour de France
Kenyan-born, South-African educated Chris Froome won the 100th Tour de France yesterday and hoisted the trophy for the British. Froome crossed the final finish line with the rest of his Team Sky teammates after finishing the 21st stage under a Paris sunset and a glowing Champs Élysées. To mark the 100th Tour riders were made to race around the Arc de Triomphe, rather than doing a U-turn hundreds of metres short of the monument as is usually the case, to provide the most symbolic backdrop possible. Read all about Froome’s rise to the top, his take on doping and his training tips in our July issue – currently on the shelves.
