The latest trend in the sporting world is FootGolf. The combination of football, soccer for you that are uneducated, and golf is played with a regulation size 5 soccer ball on a golf course with shortened holes into a 53cm diameter cup. This game is played just like golf and the objective is to get the ball into the cup with the least amount of kicks. The sport aims to attract a younger, hipper crowd than traditional golf. It has massive following and seems to be very trendy right now getting better responses than Disc Golf.

It is unclear as to where the sport originated but rules for it were invented in the Netherlands in 2009 and has rapidly expanded across the globe to 20 other countries. It has become so popular that it has been regulated by the Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG) who hold regular tournaments and World Cups, the first of which was held in June 2012 in Budapest. FGSA (FootGolf South Africa) is an exclusive member of FIFG and aims to create structures, development and promote the sport of FootGolf in South Africa.

The game is very fun and affordable for everyone. From men, women and children of all ages where no one is left out. Many are trying to grow the sport into something big. Big enough with the hopes that it can become an Olympic sport in the following decades. This sport makes for a great team building activity as it incorporates a more social setting for colleagues to engage with each other, have healthy fun in the sun and improve on their footy skills.
