In Pictures: The Springboks Come To The Mother City
The streets were buzzing in the Mother City on Monday: the boys were back in town. And this time, with the Webb Ellis 2019 Rugby World Cup trophy. Bars and balconies filled along Long and Loop St, while hundreds followed as the Springbok tour bus came passed the Jan van Riebeeck statue. An energy that South Africans haven’t felt enough in recent times.
Cape Town is the final leg of the countrywide tour which most recently visoted Port Elizabeth. This included a visit to Zwide, the township captain Siya Kolisi grew up in. In Cape Town, a parade kicked off the action, followed by a mini concert, before the Springbok tour bus graced the streets.
But not to worry if you missed all the action, we caught some of it. Check out our gallery below. (swipe/scroll)
