Wash this way, says Dr Francesca Fusco, an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital
The ingredient to look for is zinc. This mineral will help hydrate your scalp, prevent irritating yeast build-up, and put an end to unhealthy shedding.
Lower the water temperature to lukewarm; hot water robs hair of natural oils. Massage a quarter-sized amount of shampoo into your hair using circular motions to clean from various angles. Rinse.
Shampooing also strips healthy hair oils. Replenish with a rinse-out conditioner that includes oils – like sunflower, soybean, almond or sesame, all of which mimic your hair’s natural oils. Try BioSense Hydrate Treatment (R130, Twincare International 011 305 1600).
Blood vessels dilate during the hair-washing process. A quick rinse under cold water will constrict these vessels, leaving your hair shinier and easier to style. Shampoo and condition at least every other day to keep your hair looking its healthiest.
