You don’t have to actually sleep with a porn star to harm your health.

Regular porn users are more likely to report depression and poor physical health than non-users are, a new Centres For Disease Control study found.

The reason is that porn may start a cycle of isolation. “Thinking, ‘I’m not up to it, I’ll just stay in with the Internet,’ may make you less likely to go out,” says study author Dr Duane McBride.

Porn may become a substitute for healthy face-to-face interactions, social or sexual, he says.

Save most of your viewing for when you’re with your partner: watching porn together can boost satisfaction, research shows.
