Researchers evaluated the effect of drinking either a standard carbohydrate-electrolyte beverage or low-fat chocolate milk on recovery between preseason morning and afternoon practice sessions among 5 male and 8 female college soccer players.
On different days, and in random order, the players were given one of the drinks (1 g carbohydrate per kilogram body weight) following morning practice and then asked to complete a shuttle run to fatigue following afternoon practice the same day.
