Don’t have the ice power to cool down your overheated beers let alone yourself? These few tricks could save your life.
1 WIND AND SOCK METHOD
Place the bottle into one of your socks. Cool the beer in the sock completely by using water from a river, tap or water bottle. Must be completely wet. Place the wet socky beer in a place with lots of wind. More wind means a cooler beer. Preferably hang it up to a tree branch or fence to get the breeze to flow all around it. Leave the beer to stand for twenty-thirty minutes. The longer you wait the cooler it becomes.
2 NEWSPAPER METHOD
Tear newspaper into long strips. Wet the paper. Wrap the beer bottle in the paper. Leave and wait for the water to evaporate from the paper to cool the beer.
3 WATER METHOD
If you are camping near a river make the most of it. This works for cans and bottles. You don’t need a sock or paper but wrapping it will help speed up the heat transfer. Dunk the bare beer bottle or wrapped bottle into the river, stream, etc. Make sure to anchor the bottles down by using a rock or tying it to something so you don’t lose it. Check after 10 minutes as it tends to cool the beer faster than the other methods.
4 BURY METHOD
Choose a good spot either in the shade or damp wet soil. More moist the soil the better. Use water if you have some to wet the ground. Dig a large enough hole for the beer and bury it up until the lid or cap. Leave the cap or lid on to minimalise the dirt that could go inside it and it also makes it easier to find.
