Do you have a side that photographs better?

Research proves it is probably your left side.

A study recently published in Experimental Brain Research shows that the left side of the human face is consistently perceived as the most attractive.

Male and female headshot profile pictures were viewed and rated by study participants, where each side of the face was shown along with mirror images.

Verbal reactions to these photos were recorded as well as measuring subconscious reactions to the images gauged by the amount of pupil dilation. (Larger pupil size is accepted as conveying greater interest in the object being viewed.)

The majority of viewers reacted by showing gravitation toward the left side of the face.

Researchers suggest the independence of facial muscles allow each half of the face to convey varying degrees of emotions and that the left side of the face is preferred because it is more expressive than the right.
