For the first time since women’s beach volleyball was introduced at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, competitors will no longer be required to wear bikinis at the 2012 London Olympics.

The IOC will now allow shorts that are above the knee and sleeved/sleeveless tops (or even bodysuits in cold conditions).

Girl watchers everywhere may be disappointed, but feminists and women in countries where bikinis are frowned on will applaud the move.
