Do your eyes need surgery?
Set your sight on the target, even if that means a laser aimed at your eyeballs
What does sight cost?
Everything has a price. If you get stabbed in the eye, you’ll probably be covered. But laser eye surgery isn’t often covered by medical aid and costs range from R13 000 to R15 000. Here are our tips to get the cost down.
1. You can claim from your medical aid if your eyesight is particularly bad, as it then can be considered a medical problem.
2. Scan the fine print. Every scheme is different so be thorough when checking for “optical benefits”.
3. Some medical schemes are better than others. Check for when you can use your medical savings and shop around – some schemes are more lenient than others.
