Can manscaping be a threat to your manhood?

Research in
Sexually Transmitted Infections suggests that shaving your pubic hair may raise your risk of molluscum contagiosum, a viral skin disease that can be sexually transmitted. Taking a razor to your junk may create microtears that let infection infiltrate; the increased risk may apply to other STIs, such as genital warts due to HPV or herpes, says  researcher Dr François Desruelles.

Trimming is probably safer than shaving.

Here’s how to best keep your junk tidy:

Tools: Hair trimmer
Upkeep: As needed

Don’t risk jabbing this tender region with a sharp implement when a trimmer will breeze through your jungle safely. You want to maintain the area while preventing unsightly and uncomfortable razor burn.

Aim to leave about an inch of hair—and don’t pretend you’ve never estimated length down there before.
