Offer one of these three-ingredient starters, from John Sundstrom, chef at Lark in Seattle, when she comes in the door.
Spread the top third of thin Italian breadsticks with quince, fig, or apricot preserves and then tightly wrap each breadstick with a slice of prosciutto.
Toss peeled, deveined prawns with lemon juice and season with salt. Wrap each shrimp with a large basil leaf and secure the leaf with a toothpick. Sear or grill until the prawn turns pink, about 2 minutes on each side.
3 Goat's Cheese
Peel a cucumber and then use the peeler to slice thin strips lengthwise. Drop a spoonful of soft goat’s cheese and a sprig of fresh dill onto one end of each strip; roll up and secure with toothpicks.
