Want to do more push ups? Battling ropes can help you pump out more on the floor. Researchers in Canada found that just four weeks of battling rope training boosted push-up performance by 24%. “Rope workouts can really improve lactic acid tolerance in your upper body,” says BJ Gaddour, a training advisor. “That allows you to do more reps of upper-body moves.” To make your own battling ropes, wrap the ends of a 15 metre long, four centimetre diameter rope with electrical tape. Make “rope waves” up and down and side to side as hard as you can for 30 seconds and then rest for 60 seconds. Do that 10 times.
