We polled women on what bothered them the most about a man’s skin. Here are their concerns, and our solutions.
Sweat and soap dries out the skin and causes acne – opt for a body scrub to mildly dry out your back, says dermatologist Dr Dagmar Whitaker. “In minor cases, keep your skin dry and wear loose fitting clothes with natural and cool fibres.” If the acne gets out of control use a vitamin A cream like Differin or Retin-A or go see a dermatologist”.
Use neutral cleansers like unfragranced glycerine bars or cleansing lotions, and apply moisturiser after washing your hands, says Whitaker. Tip: keep both at your sink as a reminder.
Cracked heels are caused by the build-up of dry skin. “If you’re looking for a quick fix use Medipod heel balm with peppermint and tea tree oil on your cracked feet,” says Whitaker. “Wrap it up with cling film, put some socks over your feet and sleep with it on – any build up should be gone in a few days.”
We often lean on our elbows and don’t use enough moisturiser. A lotion containing urea cream can help your skin retain moisture.
